AR*ing Corelle
*Augmented Reality
This project is exploring a solution to the problem of rapidly changing visual trends for companies like Corelle that manufacture longer-lasting goods. The idea is to create a cool hunting platform for Corelle to avoid the error of offering designs that don't find enough demand. This way creates a sustainable balance between demand and production.
As Corelle is proud of its long tradition of designing and manufacturing durable and permanent tableware, I perceived its new challenge to be aiming for expanding its innovative portfolio to the market of millennials who have ever-changing trends, and like more diversity. Digital nomads are trying new places, connections, and lifestyles all the time. With this solution, I will combine the permanency and durability of Corelle With the diversity and change that millennials are looking for. Aiming for creating a virtual platform where they can express themselves and help Corelle to learn about visual trends faster and in a more efficient way making it easier and funnier to share on social media for more effective advertising wanting the users to be able to change the face of their food experience as they wish. At this point, I started experimenting with designs that can work as markers for the camera's recognition process. as minimal as possible so that there's enough space for the additional virtual design.
Opportunities for Corelle:
The greatest opportunity that this platform can create for Corelle as opposed to the traditional marketing strategy is that: In the traditional method, Corelle spends a min of thousands of pieces on a design that might not be the perfect one. And it is not even possible to go with the ever-changing flow of the new trends. So, Corelle in this solution designs virtual patterns and launches them online. For people to use them. And ideally, leave some free space and tools for the user to customize the patterns. Based on the feedback they learn about favorite patterns and the new trends immediately from the final user. And potentially decide to actually and really manufacture the favorite pattern(s) knowing that there’s less risk for them not being accepted by the millennial target. And if it wasn’t enough they can always publish premium virtual patterns.
